Question: At what age did you let your son or daughter get contact lenses!?
What is the earliest age you would think that a child would be ready to wear them!? Any experiences with this!? I'd like to hear about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends on how mature the child is!.!.!.
As an optometrist, I would say 14+ if the child is mature, but the decision is ultimately the parents'!.
If you want to wait to 15, 16, 18+ it's your choice!. You know how mature the child is!.
I have successfully fit very near sighted 13 year olds who play sports, but parent involvement (checking up, making sure rules are being followed, etc!.) is very important to the success of the contact lens experience!.

Actually, despite my begging, my parents never let me get contacts!.
So I had to wait until I was 18!.!.!. which really sucked!.
I personally don't think that contacts are appropriate for young children!. But for a teenager (freshman, 15 years maybe) I think it's perfectly acceptable if they show an interest!. That's around the time they start learning more responsibility and can be trusted to take care of their contacts, cleanse them, take them out nightly, and demonstrate overall good hygiene necessary for healthy contact use!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In Ontario you have to be 18 to buy coloured contacts, because if it isn't properly cared for it can seriously harm your eyes, so I'll say 18 but if it's for actually seeing then I would say determine it on maturity and hygiene practices!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
i had my first pair in 7th grade, only cause i couldn't see the board and my glasses were gonna take a week to come in!.
i went through 6 pairs in 7 days!.
