How do 3-D glasses work?!

Question: How do 3-D glasses work!?
I'm talking about the blue and red ones they give you at the movie theater, and the plain grey ones like they give you at Disneyland!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are three methods:

The aim of the first two is to ensure each eye sees a different image of two projected simultaneously!.

The red- blue/green ones are quite obvious!.!.!. the red-based image doesn't appear through the blue or green lens and vice-versa!.

The grey ones used polarised light to produce the same effect, the orientation of the polarisation* being different in the two eyes, again acting as selective filters!. This is preferred in most cases nowadays as it allows for natural colour!. There is more than one way to set up the polarisation, so not all polarised glasses work on all screens!.!.!.
Not an issue at cinemas, but as it gets used more on computer games, it may be worth noting!.

The third method is a pseudo 3-d occasionally used to produce an impression of depth on a single TV of cinema image!.
The Pulfrich effect uses a darker lens in front of one eye than the other and, there, objects travelling left and right will appear in front of or behind the screen, (or the reverse, depending on which eye has the dark-tinted lens)
It's really only of novelty value!. It can't produce real 3D, though it can surprise people!.

*light, as it travels, can also have an independent direction of vibration!. Human eyes can't detect it, though some insects can!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yep, as pedastal said, 3D movies work by making sure each eye has a slightly different image!.

So when you watch a 3D movie without the glasses on, you will see a red and blue image side by side!. (not quite on top of each other!.)

So by putting the red and blue glasses on, one eye only sees red, and the other eye only sees the blue image, and as they are separated, your brain tries to join them, but cannot put them on top of each other so as a 3D image forms!.

Its the same for polarised, as pedastal also said
Hope it helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com
