Confused about a perscription?!

Question: Confused about a perscription!?
My optometrist said I have 20/20 vision in my left eye and 20/40 in my right!. I have -!.75 in the left eye and -1!.50 in the right!.

How can I have "perfect vision and still need correction in that eye!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Because 20/20 isn't perfect vision at all!.
It's a "notional" normal, with a value set for historical and mathematical reasons, not because it's the best an eye can get!.

With the -0!.75 in place you might get 20/18, 20/15!.!.!.!.
About one person in a hundred can be corrected to 20/10!.
It depends on how well the eye's optics and nerves are operating, a separate thing from finding the best-focus lens!.

The vision with that eye will also vary with the pupil size!. It is likely to show appreciably more blur at night than on a bright day!.

Just because you can see 20/20 doesn't make is perfect!. There is no such thing!. That just means that at a distance of twenty feet you can read 20 point letters!. I am confused as to if the 20/20 and 20/40 is with the correction you have provided, if so then your statement of perfect vision only applies to wearing glasses!. However glasses are only to improve help you see, they will not make your eyes wors, nor will they make the better!. They have no bearing on the health of your eyes!. If your visual acuity was without glasses there is no reason why you have to wear your glasses if you feel comfortable without them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think your doctor was talking about Astigmatism!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
