They charge me $150 for contact lenses exam & fitting fee. ?!

Question: They charge me $150 for contact lenses exam & fitting fee!. !?
I always had glasses and wanted to try contact lenses for the first time, so I went to Premier Eye Center today!. We have Blue Cross PPO and thought the Eye Exam for contact lenses will be covered by insurance!. After exam, I went to the front desk and they said I need to pay $150 for having eye exam today and doing contact lenses fitting session in next week (15-20min)!. They said the contact lenses exam are not covered by health insurance!. We don't have eye insurance!.

Does this sound right!? I had to pay but am not sure how much they will charge me for purchasing contact lenses after my meeting next time!. I feel like I was being ripped off!. Can I go somewhere else like Costco to purchase contact lenses once I get doctor
Answers:
Technically, any provider can charge anything they want for their services!. They should either have told you what the fees were up front, or have signs posted that announce their rates!. Then you can decide if that's for you or not!.

Either way, once you've been fitted and have your prescription, you can buy those lenses anywhere you want - online, Costco, etc!.

Disposable soft lenses should run about $19 for a box of 6!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Thats not too bad of a fee!. Some plans dont cover contact lenses because they are a form of elective exam, you can always get glasses but contacts are not a necessity!. You shouldn't be charged to go pick up your lenses!. You dont need to see the doctor again to go and pick up a prescription!. You only need to pay for the lenses!.
You are more than able to purchase your contacts form any location!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes it sounds about right
and yes you can go anywhere to purchase your contacts once you have the prescription for themWww@Answer-Health@Com

The fee is low for a professional office but you need to check with your insurance company before your exam to see if the service (routine exam, glasses, contacts, and fitting fees etc!.) is covered the next time with any doctors visit!. It is unfortunate that the doctor's office did not warn you that your Blue Cross PPO may not cover it!. Did you ask prior to the exam!? If they said it would be covered you might be able to get a discount!. Finally, if you do go through with the fitting completely you can get your contact lens prescription once you have been successfully fitted and go else where to buy your contact lenses (California Law)Www@Answer-Health@Com
