Are my lens power affected by the base curve?!

Question: Are my lens power affected by the base curve!?
Hi,

I've been using Softlens 66 Toric for along time and it fits me the best!. i have astigmatism!.

My doctor had just prescribed me to Acuvue Advance and it's just horrible!.!.this is because the lens always moves around and my eyesight never becomes clear!. I have astigmatism so it's important the lens stay as it is!.

Hence, I suspect it is a base curve issue as my previous Soflens has BC of 8!.5 and Acuvue is 8!.6!.

My question: Can i use the same prescription my doctor gave me for the Acuvue to order the Soflens!? Does a different base curve result in a different power, cylinder and axis for the lens!?

Pls advice, thanks!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would go back to the eye dr!. and tell him/her that these are not comfortable and ask if there is a reason you were switched!. The problem with ordering Soflens 66 Toric with the prescription that your doctor gave you is that if 8!.6 BC was written on the RX, the Soflens don't come in an 8!.6, they only come in the 8!.5 so they might question the prescription!.

You have the right to be comfortable and I guess bottom line is that unless there was something going on that made your dr!. want to switch you, you can tell him that you really want the old lenses back!.

(The only reason I can think of is if you had a change in the prescription and the Soflens don't come in that power and Acuvue does)Www@Answer-Health@Com

A difference in 0!.1 in base curve shouldn't really make a difference, but i still wouldn't order them yourself!. Torics can be a little bit tricky to order!. You should go back to your optometrist and tell them the problem, they should be able to give you something else to try!. (hopefully free!)

Hope it helps!.
