My girlfriend had similar problems as you with books and computer screens!. She got an eye test and glasses in August this year!. The eye test wasn't too expensive and was very thorough - they checked for other problems like diabetes and glaucoma, in addition to testing sight!. Thankfully the only problem she has is that she is long sighted (far sighted) and can see perfectly when she wears her glasses!. The frames she chose weren't cheap but they weren't that expensive either!. She did try on some cheaper ones which looked great - you don't need to spend a lot to look good and see perfectly!.
It is important to get your eyes tested if you are having problems reading!. You probably do need glasses but I don't think you will like the ready made reading glasses as they are aimed at people in their 50s and older, so don't have a great selection of styles that would appeal to younger people!.
The glasses my girlfriend got look great on her!. When she first got them she only wore them for reading, now she prefers to wear them pretty much most of the time!.
If money is tight, try putting some aside to save up for an eye test and glasses!. Your health is very important!. Once you have got glasses you can go back to spending the money your were putting aside!

if you are having trouble, then you don't have "good "eyes!. There are problems you could have that do not include seeing far or near, like asigmatism which is difficulty focusing!. Call an optician and find out what an eye appointment costs!. Here in Minnesota it is about $50!.00!. Then, after the exam, if you need corrective lenses, call social services in your town asn ask if there are any civic organizations that help with that!. If you can't pony up the exam costs at all, call social services first and ask about those civic organizations!. check with Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can buy cheap reading/magnification glasses at WalMart, Target, or Walgreens to help in the short term!. Try using the lowest magnification possible and see which level allows you to read the most easily!.

Also WalMart offers fairly inexpensive eye exams and frames!. If your eyesight is really failing, you will do more damage in the long term by ignoring this problem!.
