A sinus problem is likely, but would accompany, most likely, timing with all the symptoms of sinus problems!. Any chronic sore throat during those months or prior to onset of the pain!?

That type of eye pain can also be associated to pre-stroke events, but that seems unlikely with the duration of the pain!. However, the come-and-go characteristic makes me mention pre-stroke events!.

Referred pain is when the problem-source is from one location, but the pain location is another!.!.!. Consider seeing the dentist if the ophthalmologist has no explanation!. It might be a tooth or upper-gum problem!.

Bone infections, tumors, pressure within the eye-ball (might Google "cataracts" and read up on symptoms) are to be considered!. You don't mention your age, but it may be related to injuries that occurred long ago, possibly and infection years ago that produced a cyst - and now the cyst is aggravating tissues or a nerve nearby!.

That's a short list, and all I can think of now!. If you can get to the ophthalmologist earlier, you should go, I mean this week!.!.!. It's not really something to delay!. You're talking about your head and things are complicated up there!.

I hope it's a minor problem!.!.!.

Could be migraines!. Before and while you get these pains, do you get any sensitivity to light or noise!? A migraine is caused by constriction of blood vessels or something and it is behind the eye and damn painful!. I got them in my early teen years but grew out of them so mine were hormone related!. There are different triggers!. My brother got them if he ate mushrooms!Www@Answer-Health@Com
