Contact Lens Disposal?!
Question: Contact Lens Disposal!?
I wear 2 week soft contact lenses!. I was wondering why they need to be disposed of at these intervals, instead of say a month!? The optometrist says it's important, but not why!. Will you cause eye damage if you continue to use them longer, or are they just looking for more money!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The lens material used for the disposable lenses is actually designed to start breaking down after the two week interval!. So the answer is yes, it is important to not wear beyond manufacturer's suggestions!. The only way to get more wear out of them is to not wear for more than 4-6 hours daily, change the solution everyday and absolutely do not sleep in them!. You might be able to get 3 wks out of them, but it really isn't recommended!. Consider this!.!.!.!.though it isn't the cheapest thing to have to replace every two weeks, it certainly beats losing vision because of a corneal ulcer or infection which may occur as a result!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
bacteria can grow on the contacts and cause an eye infection!. but i usually keep mine in for longer than that and thats never happened!. they just get REALLY dry!Www@Answer-Health@Com
