For comfort's sake, perhaps using some hot compresses on your eyes will make you feel better!.

And through out the old stuff, and make a note on your calendar to buy more new solution a couple of weeks after your next purchase!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to see your eye dr!. Sounds to me like you may have a type of conjunctivitis from old solution that may have been contaminated!. I would take the solution, contacts and case with me to the eye dr!. and make an appointment as soon as you can!. I would leave the contacts out and wear your glasses!. This type of reaction may require an antibiotic to treat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

put some "Rhoto" eye drops in, your eyes will burn for a little but then feel cool and refreshed!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi Psychgrl, It is nice to see in the additional details that you realize that removal of the contacts is an important first step!. I know you want a quick and easy answer, but that's not possible!. Differentiating possible causes & diseases they may produce troubles gives your eye care professional an answer as to how to soothe your eyes!. It sounds as though possibly you have what is called conjunctivitis - this actually involves the clear tissue that resides over the whites (scleras) of the eye!. An important key was that you said it was bilateral which helps your eye Dr!. have a head start on the case!. Usually if your corneas were scratched or injured your pain would be almost unbearable because of the nerve endings to the cornea (that clear bubble on which your contacts touch)!. I could give you a textbook number of reasons why it is important to visit an eye Dr!. and believe me this is not taking drastic measures!. Please keep in mind you only have 2 irreplacable eyes so nothing you can do to properly protect them is too drastic!. From the information you provided you did not tell me in what manner that your eyes were irritated - painful!? itching!? drainage!? eyelids sticking together when you wake up!? So I will try to inculcate you to the majesty of these God given visual sensors and distill the information you have provided to offer you some help!. Obviously you did the right thing by taking out the contacts!. Did you write down the name of the solution & date!? You should see an eye Dr!.! Here is the fast, but ill advised path to take!. Since it looks like I won't be able to convince you to be cautious and see the Dr!. then throw away the old solution!. If your lenses are disposable ones then throw away the last pair worn even if you put it in fresh solution!. The generic solution seems to be the contaminating source but this is guesswork!. When people speak of pink eye or red eyes usually it is 1 of at least 3 forms of conjunctivitis = bacterial, allergic, or viral!. Bacterial conj!. is contagious so if you work with others keep hand gel or foam to clean your hands anytime you touch your eyes!. You would be surprised how often you will touch them unknowingly in a days time!. There is good/bad news with this form of "red" eye!. You can simply wait it out till the redness subsides and purchase tears to try and sooth the eyes, but you won't know how long you will be contagious and you cannot wear your contacts until fully healed!. Bacterial usually has a yellowish or green discharge in the corner of your eye!. This is why seeing a Dr!. could get you cleared up faster than just waiting it out 2 weeks to sometimes a month!. The Dr!. would give you an antibiotic eye drop if bacteria was the cause and you would be non contagious after about 24-48 hours of antibiotic eye drops!. Healing time could be cut drastically and your eyes would be soothed!. If on the other hand you have an allergic conj!. then the treatment is different as well as the signs and symptoms the Dr!. observes!. Eye drops like Naphcon A can be purchased over the counter!. They may sting initially from the drop but it will reduce the red eye and sooth! The reason I don't like giving this advice is because I don't have a complete health history on you!. It is important to know and understand any allergies you have already been diagnosed with by a Dr!. If this does not help, then "drastic measures" as you put it will be needed!. The reasons are too numerous to go into online!. The third problem could be a viral component and this must be brought to the attention of an eye professional!. So try the OTC Tears or Naphcon A and see if it helps!. Keep the contacts out until the eyes are no longer irritated or red!. Cold compresses can sooth the eyes if they burn & itch!. Please remember God gave you only 2 eyes without spares so if you do not see improvement then see an optometrist or ophthalmologist!. This has been done poorly and I must ask your forgiveness but I have such limited information about you that this is a shot in the dark so I have tried to my best in this forum!. Good luck Www@Answer-Health@Com
