When I saw your question title I thought immediately: it's more common in the left eye!.

There are a variety of possible causes for "Amaurosis fugax"
But they are nearly all significant, and certainly the symptom should be followed up!.

The most common cause is from embolism from the carotid artery, heart or aorta: little bits of cholesterol breaking off, and temporarily blocking the blood supply until it breaks up!.

It hits the left eye more because of asymmetry: a bend in the rising artery tends to "throw off" more of such particles into the left eye's blood supply!.

I'm sorry I can't make the news better!. but you have a chance to get at the underlying problem before there is a major attack, and that doesn't always happen!.
The outside chance is a retinal migraine with no great health or eyesight significance, but that is relatively rare!.

It sounds like an"ischemic " attack!.Im not an md but Ive known symptoms like yours to be diagnosed thusly!. Basically it involves a blood vessel near the optic nerve occassionally swelling slightly whith increased blood flow to press on the optic nerve causing temporary blindness in one eye!.Go to your Dr!. and explain these symptoms to him!.It probably wont be dangerous, but for peace of mind Id go!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could be an ocular migraine without head pain!. I get them about once a month!. Mine usually lasts for an hour or so!. Most doctor are aware of this symptom!. It's pretty common for migraine sufferers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe some kind of blindness!? A blood clot!? If you have had brain tests to rule out tumor then I wouldnt worry about a tumor!.!.maybe you need more advanced testing on your eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
