Contact Lens Advise Please?!

Question: Contact Lens Advise Please!?
How long should I wear Acuvue two week disposable latex soft contact lenses!? I know what the box says and I know what my doc said, but if I am trying to save money and want to squeeze more than two weeks out of a pair, is it safe!? Assuming they are not noticeably torn or scratched, and well cleaned, and never slept in, and are not irritating my eyes!. I had a friend say he wore his for a month at a time, but mine seem to start bothering me before that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Two weeks!. No, it is not safe to wear them for longer; that is why they are only approved for two weeks of wear!. Assuming they are not noticeably torn or scratched, well cleaned, never slept in, and are not irritating your eyes, they still have protein build-up that can damage your eyes!. If you want to save money, wear your glasses more often or look for rebates when buying contacts!.

And if you do overwear your contacts, it will be much more expensive to deal with the dry eye, corneal neovascularization, infections, giant papillary conjunctivitis, and corneal ulcers that you'll probably get sooner or later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have contacts and they are the 6 month wear kind, I wear them until they get foggy, or my eyes start to get dried out a lot!. When I can tell I need a new pair!. They usually last about a year, and in addition to wearing them longer than recommended I sleep in them!. I can have the same pair of contacts in for months at a time!. I wouldn't recommend it, but I just want to show you that you can wear them longer!.
Also, I would consider speaking with your ophthalmologist and explain your desire to stretch the use of your contacts and your wallet!. Most doctors are more than understanding and willing to help if they can, it's easier when dealing with things like prescription medications, where they can simply prescribe a generic or a higher dosage than can be split!. I wear the same lens's and i admitted to my doctor that I was stretching them out a bit beyond the recommended 2 weeks and he stated to me that while he doesn't recommend me doing so, if I just absolutely had to, no more than 30 days!. He says as a minimum, if I am wearing them all day at work, I should at least come home and wear glasses just to give my eyes a break and he hates that I wear the Acuvue 2's for that long since they don't allow as much oxygen into my eyes as other lenses he prefers- unfortunately, I just haven't had much luck with ther Oasys or the hydraclears!? He also says to use Optifree express and not some plain saline solution-that I found makes a world of difference for me!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

As soon as they start to irritate your eyes toss em!.!.!. make sure to clean them really good if you are wearing them daily - after the two weeks that is recommended on the box they start to break down - this attracts bacteria and you don't want to get an infection in your eye! Just to be cheap - also buy your contacts in bulk from 1-800-contacts this is also cheaper - if your Rx hasn't expired you can order them as often as you like!

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

never go longer than three weeks with those!. they say a two week limit because protein and bacteria build up on disposable contacts and if you keep wearing them your eyes will get irritated, and it could lead to infection!. if you are trying to save money you could switch to a brand that says you can wear them for a month, as opposed to two weeks!. and the best way to make your contacts last longer is to never sleep with them and to put new solution in your case every night!. hope this helps! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel ya on the trying to save money!. contacts are expensive!. i've been wearing them since i was 11 and i'm almost 20 now! So!.!. yeah i've been able to wear my contacts for over a month!.!. but they get really irritating after a while!. after i started using acuvue (over a year now) i felt the difference, they are much more comfortable!. just make sure you use the right solution!. your eyes just might be more sensitive than others, try a different solution!. I have the same brand and where mine for up to *cough cough* 2 months, bad idea kinda, but as long as you wash your hands before you put them in and take them out, keep them clean, my eyes seem to be fine!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I only change mine on the first of every month!. My doc said it was okay as long as I kept them clean, but to toss them if they irritated me or my vision wasn't as it should be!.

I use Acuvue 2 as well!.

Just change yours when they don't feel comfortable anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah they do start to bug after the 2weeks are up but I think a month should be the most you can use them for!. Any longer than that might not be such a good idea!. Besides it'll feel extremely uncomfortable anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A month!. That's what I do!. I have Acuvue Oasis now, and I do it with them, but I also did it with Acuvue 2!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wear mine for a month and there only made for 2 weeks!. take them out EVERY night and soak them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
