How is working as an optometrist like?!
Question: How is working as an optometrist like!?
im thinking of pursuing ophthalmology and i want to know how how the working climate is like, and what are the responsibilities and duties that an optometrist has!.!. and do you need special talents to work in this field!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all, Ophthalmology and Optometry are two different fields!. Ophthalmology requires medical school and a residency because they are MD's!. Optometrists go less yrs and are not MD's or surgeons, but there are only certain schools in the country for Optometry!. Both are very good fields!. I have worked in Ophthalmology for over 17 years and it is a very busy field!. We see patients for regular eye exams, but also see referrals from optometrists for cataract surgery, and sometimes management of glaucoma as well as retinal diseases!. But it's a great field!. I can't tell you a lot about Optometry as I don't have any personal contact with that field other than referrals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I can't answer this question personally, because I am an Optician!. You could try to job shadow both an OD and MD!. This would give you good insight as to what the job entails!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
