Hi,

Keratoconus is a progressive diseases, the earlier you treat it, the better the prognosis in the long term!. There are essentially four options in correcting this:
1!. Hard Contact lens as you have had - makes your vision better but does not stop the progress of kk!.
2!. Intacs - you are perhaps too young for this, but again, it does not stop the progress of the disease, merely flattens your cornea out!.
3!. Corneal Crosslinking C3R - Riboflavin is soaked into the cornea and a UV light applied to strengthen the bonds between tissue!. There is excellent evidence to suggest that this has good long term results!.
4!. Corneal graft - this is the end stage of kk, grafting is inevitable in some cases and will further reduce your vision!.

Recently we have treated an Australian pilot who had developed kk with C3R and he has gone back to work and is functioning very well!. Unfortunately, the company that I work for is unable to treat anyone udner the age of 18!. However, there are a few pilot studies being done that I am aware of which you may be able to enter!. I would suggest that you contact St Georges hospital in Tooting, London or Moorfields!. The following URL is taken from my companies website and is merely some further information rather than a punt for my company!.

Hope this helps

Hmmm!. Well, as it stands, most likely not!. But, this would be a better question to ask your eye care provider!. Your doctor knows more about you and can give you an individual answer based on your case, and we just do not know enough about your medical condition to give you such delicate advise! I wish you well, hon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
