Yes!. "Implantable contact lenses" is the increasingly popular term for what used to be known as intraocular implants!.
It's surgery done under anaesthetic, almost always local not general!.
It's the equivalent of having cataract surgery, and comes in two basic forms: in younger people where an extra lens is added inside the eye in front of the iris and in older people where the natural lens, behind the iris, is replaced!.
The latter is exactly cataract surgery before cataracts actually develop:

Yes they can, haha!.
I have contacts and they don't hurt me at all to put in and take out!.
But everyone is different!. You may be squimish to touch your eye or you are to rough!. Some of my friends say there eyes hurt all day when they have there contacts in!.
Make sure you wash your hands before putting them in and taking out, if you don't it can result in great stinging!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
