It sounds like you have kept them in too long!. The blood is rushing to replentish the cornea area which has been restricted from oxygen due to the contact!.

Just because you had them in for 15 hours doens't really mean you didn't have them in too long as it varies from individual to individual and how EACH individual reacts!.

It could also be they are old contacts and not as oxygen permeable as when you first put them in!. I sometimes have this problem as I have extended wear and sometimes forget to change them in two weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to reduce your wearing time of your lenses!!! if you need to keep them in for long periods of time, try using some comfort wetting drops while wearing your lenses (make sure the drops can be used while wearing your lenses, best to get them from an opticians) you should also go to your optician and try using a different type of contact lens, the higher the water content the better as u can wear them for longer!. if your eyes are dry at all this will most definatly reduce that 'bloodshot' look!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your eyes are not getting enough oxygen!. If they are only for daily wear, they should be wore up to 14 hours and no more!. Put on your glasses after that, or talk to your optometrist about continuous wear lenses that you can wear even during sleep!. These are made to provide more oxygen to the eye and are usually worn for 2 weeks or 1 month straight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
