Have you ever been given the bait and switch by LasikMD in Canada?!

Question: Have you ever been given the bait and switch by LasikMD in Canada!?
I have been to LasikMD!. Their advertised price is $490 an eye for standard lasik!. On their website, they list major components of the costs as surgeon time, after care, and equipment costs!. I was given a quote for $1090 an eye for standard lasik on my -5!.5 precription!. I asked why the difference!. Was their more time with the physician I asked!? No!. Was a different or more expensive machine used!? No!. Was the aftercare different!? No!. Was insurance on the procedure included!? No!. Were there guarantees!? No!.

Then why the difference in price!? No answer!. That was their price!. It was my decision to have the surgery!. Isn't this type of pricing illegal!. Mustn't an additional service be provided for a price increase!. Can anyone tell me to whom I can complain about this predatory style of pricing!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that practice may be a bit unethical, but it isn't illegal!.

The competition is fierce among the laser clinics, so lots of them pull tricks like that to get you in the door!.

Thing is, you were presented with the real price before agreeing to go ahead, it isn't like they charged you more than expected after the surgery was done!.

So, I really don't think there is a real reason to complain!.!.!.or that anyone could do anything about it!.

EDIT **************************************

I went to lasikmd!.ca to see for myself how they price it!.

Where it says 490!.00 CDN/eye *!.!.!.there is an asterisk after it!.

Then at the bottom, that asterisk is explained!.!.!.it says prices can change without prior notice, and price can vary depending on the prescription strength!.

So, they covered their butts there by saying that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can complain to the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons and to Consumer Affairs, Government of Canada!.

For an even worse "bait and switch", try going to one of those opticals that advertise "Buy one, get two free: three pairs of Glasses for $199"!. Some of my patients report to me that the actual cost quoted to them after the various add ons was about $1000!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
