Why do you need to have your eye re-sized to get diffrent contacts?!

Question: Why do you need to have your eye re-sized to get diffrent contacts!?
I talked to my doctor about getting colored contacts, and since the brand I use doesn
Answers:
Thing is, it isn't your eyes that need to be measured and " sized" again!.!.!.it is to check how the contacts will fit on you!.

Even though your corneal curvature hasn't changed, every different brand of lenses fit differently because of the different materials they are made of!.

So a specific base curve in one brand that fits you doesn't mean that the same curve in another brand will fit the same way!.

So for a quick 10 minute check of how the new lens brand will fit!.!.!.they make you pay big bucks!.

I agree with you, the optometrists have the public over a barrel in the US for things like that!.

I understand your frustration, but let me try and explain it in a different way for you!. There are many different shoe sizes and they come in different widths: narrow, wide, etc!.!.!. When you go shoe shopping, you normally try on each different shoe to see how they look and feel right!? So you buy your size 7 shoe because they feel comfy when you tried them on, but after a day or two they start hurting and causing blisters on your heels!. So what do you do!? Take them back and get a different size or different style right!? BUT! You make sure and try the new one's on again, to make sure they feel comfy!. Well, that's basically like fitting contacts except there's no liability when it comes to trying on shoes!. There is, however, a liability when getting fitted for contacts!. Because it is considered a medical device that will be sitting right on your cornea!. And if they are not fitted properly they can and will damage your eyes!. Contact lenses are not a "one size fits all"!. Everyone's eyes are a different shape and size!. So if your wearing "ABC" brand of contacts (and they don't make a colored lens) and you want to wear "XYZ" brand (because they do) then you have to be refitted for that peticular brand!. No way around it, sorry!. They will make you pay a refit fee which is normal!. If you go to your physician and you have the flu, he will prescribe you medication and you pay the dr fee and be on your way!. But what if you don't get over it!? You go back and see him for more treatment and you pay the fee again!. It's the same thing! My best advise: At your next yearly eye exam, make sure and let the dr know that you want colors, so he can fit you and add it to your Rx!. Then you won't go through this again!. Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
