Question: How can i convince my mom to get me contact lenses!? (long)!?
I'm been wearing glasses for most of my life and I'm 14!. My mom told me when I was little that I could never get contacts because I can only see out of my left eye and it's 80-100/20 vision uncorrected and it's too dangerous!. I totally understand it can be dangerous because I could irritate my eyes if I used contacts, tear my eye by putting the contact in the wrong way, and getting an infection by not taking it out or accidently sleeping in them!. But now that I've realized that they DO have contacts in higher powers for people like me, it makes me upset that I've had to have bulky glasses for most of my life!. I'm TOTALLY thankful that i can at least see out of my left eye, but I really would like to try contacts, because I've heard that people with vision up to 200/20 can wear contacts!. I just feel like glasses are just a reminder that I'm not normal with vision like everyone else!. I've heard that there are the more harder contacts for people with poor vision or astigmatism!. I've tried asking my mom for them already, but she says that I'm stuck with glasses for life and I will never get them, and shes making me so pissed because I feel like I've been lied to about my eyes and could have dealt without stupid lenses on my face!. I'm going to my eye doctor next week, how should I ask and convince my eye doctor to get contacts!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can probably get soft contact lenses!. They're recommended for anyone ages 13-38 with decent tear production!. I actually would recommend glasses because it doesn't take much to keep them clean!. Whereas contact lenses have to be left in cleaning solution until you wear them and it's honestly a lot of responsibility in my opinion!. If you clean them improperly, it could lead to protein and bacteria build up that can cause infections!. But if you can keep it sanitized, then talk to your doctor about soft contact lenses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Ask your doctor if you can get them, and then ask him to tell your mom the advantages to them!. The biggest plus for me is that I can wear sunglasses when I wear my contacts cause the sun's just way too bright!. And if you still can't get them for some reason, plenty of cool people wear glasses, like Tina Fey and lots of other actors!. I've got Prada glasses, which are awesome!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suggest you contact your local eye doctor or Optometrist about
this particular matter!.
He would know what is needed since this is his medical profession
on something like this!.
Now some people can wear contacts and some with REALLY HARD
vision problems can't!.
Again, only your Optometrist can determine this!.

well my bf wore contacts b4 he got lazer eye surgery to correct his vision!. (he had bad vision) he did fine w/ them- but he got aggravated when he put them in, but thats just one of the neg things that contacts entail!. Just talk to the eye doctor and ask him if it is safe/okay for you to get them, if he approves just ask him if its ok that u 'try it out" for a couple of weeks- this will give ur mom a chance to see how u react to them and and will hopefuly ease her mind!. if u like them she will prob approve bc ur doc approves and u feel comfortable w/ them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
usually if you tell him or her you want to try them they will give you a trial pair to wear for about a week and then they will have you go back for a follow up!.!.at least this is what my eye doc does !.!.!. but i knw it is a different eye exam then for glasses so it might cost more!.!.!.!.do some research and show your mom the proof that it is possible for you to wear them !.!.
