Yes, they are trying to rip you off!. The blanks, from which the lenses are ground are now exclusively, or almost made of polycarbonate plastic, or cr-39 polymer, all retailers buy the blanks from the same supplier and then grind them into lenses depending on the prescription you received from your optometrist!. Glass is used but extremely rarely as it is heavy!. I am willing to bet Vision Express and Costco use EXACTLY the same blanks!. Please do not let them sell you the *quality* nonsense, it is all about profit margin and has nothing to do with quality!.
