Can I tint my eyeglasses with a tinted film.?!

Question: Can I tint my eyeglasses with a tinted film!.!?
I have a 3 pairs of glasses one new pair and 2 old ones!. One of the old ones I have never used and have been in the case for a year now!. Since my prescription has not changed I'd like to see if I could make them sun glasses!. Is it possible to tint them with a high quality automotive style tint film and still be able to see or would it mess with the optics!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

So far, everyone has told you to get them tinted!.!.!.but no one has answered your question!.

I've never seen anyone use the car window film to tint glasses with, but I think it will look strange, unless you can manage to do both sides, which will probably prove to be more work than it's worth!. A normal tint on a lens goes all the way through the lens, and a UV coating is added also!. Your film would only be on the surface and the lenses would still be clear in the center!.!.!.!.so , I don't think it would be very effective!.

It will be much easier to take them to an optical store and see if they can be tinted!. They can't always be, depending on the coatings on them!.

And contrary to what our optometry student said!.!.!.coatings are NEVER stripped off before tinting!. If the coatings on it prevent tinting, then it just can't be done, period!.

It actually depends on the lenses!. The basic process is:
1!. Strip all coatings off the lenses!.
2!. Dip in a vat of tinting dye for a while!.
3!. Reapply protective coating(s)!.
In any case, the optics, and hence the prescription, remains the same!.
The problem with this is all the newfangled ultra-tough anti-scratch reflection-reducing coatings that they can put on lenses these days!. Several years ago, they weren't that strong, and they could easily be stripped off the lenses fairly cleanly!. Unfortunately, as the coatings get better and more durable, they're stuck on there pretty permanently, and they can't be stripped off properly!. If you try to put the dye on top of the coatings, it won't stick either!.
So, long story short, bring 'em in to an optometrist's office or an optical store or wherever you got them and ask them!. They can always try it, but if the tint doesn't stick or doesn't apply evenly, you're kinda screwed, because the lenses are half-clear and half-dark!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

This works better!. Take your old ones to WalMart Vision Center and they can Dye your glasses for $10!. It takes about 6 hours!. You can chose from different shades of Black, Gray, Red or Green!.
I always chose Green as it looks Black from the outside but it just cuts glare when you look through them!. I use them as my 'Sportsman Glasses' while Hunting, Fishing or just out on the boat!.
I can walk into any building at night and can see perfectly!.
Since you have two pairs try the Dye method and try the Tint method!.
Go with Green!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes it is!. Take them to an optometrist and have them do it!. My wife had hers done that way and its really inexpensive!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
