Color contacts last how long!?!

Okay so you bought them from a beauty store!?!? That's as bad as buying them from the swap meet! 1st off, contacts are NOT a "one size fits all" deal!. If they do not fit your cornea properly they can cause serious damage to your eyes!. By they way, did you know that its a federal offense to sell contact lenses without a license!? Swap meet sellers are busted all the time!. Will this person that sold them to you be responsible for your medical bills if your eyes get damaged!? Your eyes are a VERY important sensory organ, and you only have one set of them!. Imagine the world without them! I wish people took their eyes more seriously than they do!. As far as damage goes, if you don't know how to insert and remove them properly you can cause corneal abrasions and scratches!. Did she instruct you on doing this!? Probably not!. Infections!? You can get a lot of infections from improper care and wear!. Too many to name unfortunately!. Some signs of infection are quite obvious: red or pink sclera (white part of eye) that burn or sting, discolored mucus, red inner eyelids and lash line, swelling, photophobia (sensitivity to light), eyes sealed shut when you wake up, etc!.!.!. Since you've already bought the contacts, and they're in your posession, I'll fill you in on some info!. I do work in this field and I am concerned!. First off, what type of lenses are they!? If they came in a box or individual little flat pack lenses then they're disposables!. They only last for 14 days of wear time!. However, there is one brand of colored lenses that are 1 day disposables, so read what kind it is!. If it says "Dailies" anywhere on the foil top then you dispose of them everyday and start with a new pair!. DO NOT overwear them, because you can develop infections!. If they came in a little vial bottle, then they're normally meant to be worn for up to 1 year!. DO NOT sleep or swim in any of them!. Your supposed to build up a wearing time starting with 4 hours the 1st day, then adding an hour to each day after that until you reach the 12 hour max time!. No longer than 12 hours per day! But you're already wearing them, and your eyes are probably used to them by now, so forget the build up time!. Take them out an hour before bedtime to allow oxygen back to your eyes before going to sleep!. I hope you have the proper case and solution for them!. If they hurt at all please stop wearing them all together! They may not be the right fit!. Please ALWAYS wash your hands before inserting and removing them!. And NEVER use water to clean or store them!. Very bad idea!. Find a friend or relative, who has worn contacts for a while, and ask them to show you how to properly insert and remove them!. You may think you know what your doing, but you don't!. And since you bought them without an eye exam, no doctor's office is going to instruct you on how to do this!. If you do have any problems or infections, don't be scared to see an eye doctor for treatment!. You're not going to get in trouble for buying them at the beauty shop!. Unfortunately, eye doctors see this too frequently!. And my last advise, don't buy contacts from anyone other than a doctor's office or optical shop!! Do it the right way!.
