Why do i have to get an eye exam each year?!
Question: Why do i have to get an eye exam each year!?
i've been wearing soft contacts for 10 yrs now!. every year i go get my eyes checked to renew my prescription and guess what, my doc says that i still need contacts!! he spent all those years in college and all that money on tuition to tell me that yes, in fact i still cannot see clearly!.
i understand that a teenager's eye can change shape slightly as they grow, which makes sense why a teen would go in each year, but i'm 25 and my script hasn't changed in 7 years!. why can't they make a presciption that's good for 5 years or something!?
and if i switch to hard lenses would i still have to renew a prescription each year!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

haha, well no offense but I'm glad you aren't in charge of my eyes!. Yes we do go to school for all those years and spend all that money so that we can deliver excellent care for your eyes!.!. not rip you off :)!.
You need to have an exam every year because though you're vision may not improve or get worse (but it still can as in my case) you need to make sure your eye health is not compromised!. If you have refractive error, your eye is in a compromised condition and your retina needs to be assessed every year for changes that come about due to refractive error!.
And that's not all! You wear soft lenses! People who wear lenses need to be reviewed yearly for pathological changes in cornea and lids!. These conditions that you can develop may lead to the loss of vision in that eye if you are not reviewed yearly!. I'm not saying it WILL I'm saying that its possible!. So be thankful that every year you go see your optometrist he/she has nothing to change or nothing to remarkable to tell you!. It says that you are maintaining your eye health, as well as your contact lenses!. While that is commendable, you should take a look at the questions people ask about contacts on this one website!. Trust me all people are not compliant nor do they do half the things they are supposed to!.
And with rgp lenses, you still have to have a yearly exam but if your prescription doesn't change then you can use those contacts for a couple of years!. I hope this helps change some of your perceptions!. God bless ya:)Www@Answer-Health@Com
