Which lense is best with my prescription?!
Question: Which lense is best with my prescription!?
My prescription is Sphere: -1!.50/-2!.25, Cylinder: -3!.75/-4!.00, axis: 12/177!.
I've just received new glasses from lenscrafters with, what they claim to be, the thinnest lens!.!. It's called Superview 1!.67!. Though, my old lenses are polycarbonate and seem much thinner!.!. I asked them about this and they told me that it was because my prescription had changed!. Honestly, I don't believe them!. I think they make more profit from selling this so called Superview lense!.
Anyway, am I right to think the polycarbonate are thinner lenses for my prescription!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Polycarbonate lenses are 1!.58 index!.!.!.so the 1!.67 will always be a bit thinner, if they were in the same frame!.
Probably what has happened is that your new frame is more rectangular ( wider) than your old ones!.
The more rectangular shape will result in more edge thickness because your eyes aren't as centered in the frame!.
It isn't a question of profit difference for sure, that would be negligible!. The 1!.67 are much more expensive to produce!.
The 1!.67 is also optically superior to polycarb, especially in a high power like that!.

polycarbonate is about 30% thinner & lighter than regular plastic lens!. High index 1!.67 or higher is the thinnest lens option available, and should be thinner than polycarbonate lens!. If you have a good high index lens product, it should look thinner (but may not be lighter)!. Check out private practices, they usually carry better high index products than big chain stores!.
