Why do you see different colors when you press down on your eyes?!

Question: Why do you see different colors when you press down on your eyes!?
Answers:
Whenever the cells of the retina (which is the light-sensitive lining of the eyeball) are stimulated, the response is the perception of light!. Now, almost always, this response occurs because it is light itself that is stimulating the retinal cells!. However, a phosphene is a phenomenon in which light is seen, although no light has actually entered the eye to reach the retina!. Pressure phosphenes are caused by rubbing the eyes and result in seeing points of light, typically brightly colored!. In this case, the rubbing causes enough mechanical stimulation for the retina to respond in the only way it knows how: by figuratively saying, "I see light!"

Similarly, one symptom of a possible retinal detachment is seeing flashes of light!. Why!? If the extremely thin tissue of the retina is torn or breaks or if the gel (called the vitreous) that is adhered to the retina tugs too forcefully on it, a patient may see flashes of light!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know the answer, but I like to lie in bed at night and do that, I use the heel of my hand and rub my eyes in circles!. Man, it's so cool, like rainbowish-matrix like!. It's sweet!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
