Answers:
Surgery for strabismus (misaligned eyes) in adulthood is not strictly cosmetic!. Many insurance companies will cover it, but you will have to check with your specific insurance company to determine what their policies are!. The biggest complication of surgery is infection in your eyes after surgery!. Most surgeons prescribe antibiotic drops or ointments after surgery to lessen this possibility!. There is also the risk of over or undercorrection and risks associated with general anaesthesia!.
You should see a pediatric ophthalmologist!. They are medical doctors (and surgeons) who specialize in children and adults with strabismus!. You can find a pediatric ophthalmologist at aapos!.org!.
