Question: Are my eyes that Bad!?
I am 22, nearsighted and I have a -13!.25 prescription!. I have been told I am very nearsighted from my doctor and I am often checked for retinal tears/holes!. In casual conversation with a friend, I mentioned that I was a -13!.25 and she thought I was making it up because she said it was too high!. Is it that high!? How does that compare to the general population!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, only about 3!.4% of the population has a correction of -5!.1 or more, so -13!.25 is pretty extreme!. (see page 47 in the link--sorry 9!.5 Mb)

Yes!. I am afraid that you are very nearsighted!. I am close to that prescription and get the same type of tests!. Are you wearing RGP lenses!? I was put in hard lenses at age 12 and my prescription remained nearly the same until my early 40's!. I have only had minor changes since!. I have always worn RGP lenses and the doctors insist that I need to wear them to keep my prescription from getting worse!.

it's bad really bad for your age, but it can be worse, i don't suppose you want it to get worse!?!?!? then i must tell you about the bates method, to control it don't let it get worse!.!.

Well in one Eye I was -960 the other -775 so I assume there is a dot somewhere in there, I got laser eye surgery and they said I was fine for that with my astigmatism in there too!.!. go figure, I did have the coke bottle rimms even with the new fangled supper thin glass ones, I decided laser was the way to go!. the minute I stepped off the laser machine I could see the clock on the wall!!. You have a high prescription but definitely not the highest that I have seen!. The highest that I have seen is -28!.00!. Not sure of the actual % of the world population that has your range of myopia but I would assume that the % is pretty low!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i was always though my eyes were bad, they were -3!.5 (i has lasik done) but then i met someone with -6!.

Glasses lenses can conceivably be made up to -30!.00!.
I have patients in the - 19!.00 and - 20!.00 range, and several at the - 14!.00 to - 16!.00

they're your eyes, as long as you can see, who cares what other people think!? I'm -3!.75, whic is pretty bad bcause im still 14 and theyre going to get worse :(Www@Answer-Health@Com
