What if your contact lense expired one year can you put back in your eye 2 years!

Question: What if your contact lense expired one year can you put back in your eye 2 years later and be okay!.!?
i mean like my contact expired in 06-2006 and now it's 2008 and was wondering if i can still wear it !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The expiration date is necessary because the solution that the contact lens sits in has a preservative to prevent contamination from bacterial growth!. Over time, the effectiveness of the preservative will decline!. Although the solution within the container may appear to be clear, there is no guarantee of sterility after the expiration dates!. So, to be on the safe side, it is not recommended to use these contacts after that date!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

FAQ from Acuvue:

"According to the expiration date on my package of lenses, they have expired!. Should I wear them!?
We do not recommend using ACUVUE? Brand Contact Lenses past the expiration date printed on the package!."

I say why not since they don't give any explanation or any real warning to not wear them!. All they say is they don't recommend it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The contact lens doesn't expire!. It is the solution that it is stored in that expires!.

That long past the expiry date could mean that fungus has started to grow inside the container!.

Examine it very closely for any very tiny grey spots forming on the inside of the cover or on the lens!. If you see any, throw it out!.

If all looks fine, then disinfect your lens overnight again in fresh solution before trying to wear it anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As long as it was kept sterile it won't hurt you!.
The issue is that your prescription would likely have changed, and you wouldn't see as well as you could with new ones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

this would not be smart !. you should go back to dr!. expiration dates have apurposeWww@Answer-Health@Com
