You know the stuff you get in the corner of your eye when you wake up - my mum always called it sleep - is there a proper scientific name for it or is it just gunge!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Rheum is the medical term for the natural watery mucus discharge from the eyes, commonly known as sleepy dust, sleep, lega?as, eye boogers, or some derivative thereof!. The discharge forms a crust on the eyelids, or gathers in the corner of the eye during sleep (contrast to mucopurulent discharge)!. It is formed by a combination of mucus (consisting of mucin discharged from the cornea or conjunctiva), tears, leaked blood cells, dead skin cells from the eyelids, and dust!.

Thanks for asking this question! You made me go and find out!.
