Are eye oscillations something I need to worry about?!

Question: Are eye oscillations something I need to worry about!?
I occasionally have involuntary twitching in my eyes!. I never thought much of it, until I read about nystagmus!. At first I thought it might be that, but there's no smooth, involuntary movement (except when I'm dizzy or drunk)!. It's a rapid, horizontal oscillation that lasts 1/4 to 1/2 second!. During this time my whole field of vision is blurred far beyond recognition (It'd be just as useful and less jarring to just be blinded), and I have to stop what I'm doing and usually take a few seconds to regain my bearings!.
This happens infrequently and randomly, almost exclusively when I'm concentrating on some fine manual task (like drawing) close up, and frequency is much greater when I'm stressed!. It ranges from once every few days to several times per minute (the latter is rare)!.

I'm nearsighted!. My equilibrium is poor, I often halfway lose my balance for no apparent reason (I read something about balance being related sometimes)!.

As long as it continues as it has been, I really don't think this would be worth the trouble to try to diagnose and correct!. From what I've read though, things like this can be a symptom of other conditions!.

Should I go out of my way to get checked out!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If you had acquired nystagmus (meaning you weren't born with it), you would know- you wouldn't be able to stop it and it would look like your world is constantly moving!.

Not sure what's going on with you!. You might mention it to your general practitioner at your next physical or to an eye doctor (if you see one regularly) Also it may be helpful to keep a journal of how often it happens, how long it lasts for, and if it's associated with anything- stress like you mentioned, being sick, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
