Please Help! Problem with Eyes. =(?!

Question: Please Help! Problem with Eyes!. =(!?
I've worn contacts for the past 5 years and have never had any problems with them until now that I've come to visit overseas!.

All of a sudden, every time I take them out after I've used them I wake up with red eyes!. Sometimes just one eye is red and one eyelid is swollen!. And sometimes my right eye feels even more blurry and off than usual!. EVen if I only use them once a week! Or even once a month!. I usually hate wearing my glasses outside!. But while I'm on vacation I have no choice!.

I still clean them well, the same way as always!. Same hygiene habits!. These contacts are not old, I replace them regularly!.

The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that my doctor put me on Yaz birth control a few months ago to clear up my skin!. I don't see how that can be a connection though because I have plenty of friends who use birht control for their skin and how issues with contacts!.

Is my prescription just outdated!?

Call me superficial, but I really don't want to have to wear my glasses EVERYWAY I go!.

Any advice!?

Just an FYI I don't have health insurance while I'm overseas so I'll have to wait until I get back to the U!.S!. to meet with my eye doctor!. Until I can only go to the local drugstore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Birth control pills can cause dryness of the eyes!. It is a possibilty that your eyes may now be mildly dry due to the pills and when you put on your contacts it will make it worse!. One solution is consider switching to contacts that do not dry the eyes out!. However, the best way to diagnose the actual problem is seeing your eye doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is possible that the Yaz is involved, although the connection seems shaky!. But estrogens affect many bodily functions, so it is possible!. In your situation, I'd get spectacles and wear them for the duration!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Buy some eyedrop!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

`I would suspect that you have have a mild case of blepharitis due to yours contacts!. If this is the case, simply don't wear your contacts for about a week and everything should clear up!. If this is not the case, investiage allergies!. Perhaps, you have developed an allergy to the perservative the solution you clean your contacts which!. Try getting a new contact solution cleanser thats contains to perservatives!. My best bet is it is related to contacts, and if your don't wear them for a week, this should all begin to clear up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you guessed correctly!. if the only thing you changed is adding the Pill (and your environment -if you are overseas) then I would say it could be the Pill!. Birth control causes hormonal changes that could cause dryness!. You could try contact lens rewetting drops but I imagine you've tried that!. The other issue could be your corneas (front surface if your eye) may actually swell alittle with the hormonal changes!. It doesn't take much to change the fit of the lenses!. It's a possibility, therefore the lenses no longer fit as they did before!. Do as you're doing, limit your wearing time and see your doctor when you get home!. Sorry there isn't a better answer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
