Eye Glasses - Please share your evperience?!

Question: Eye Glasses - Please share your evperience!?
About a year ago, I was in a car accident!. The accident left me with poorer vision than I had!. Today, I am in good health, verified by doctors!.!.!.!.so I don't need to ask my doctor this!.

I now wear glasses for distance which I never did before!. Unlike many of you, this was a sudden need--it didn't happen gradually (due to the accident)!.

QUESTION: When I try to walk around without the glasses, I get eye strain and things are blurry!. I don't get dizzy, just extreme fatigue and I get tired!.

For those who wear glasses!.!.!.!.!.do you ever get accustomed to not wearing them!.!.!.!.or!.!.!.!.will this be an annoyance for the rest of my life!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I work for an Optometrist and we often hear patients say things like they have "eye strain and things are blurry"!. These are signs that your eyes need correction, more or even less correction (in case you are already in glasses)!. Sometimes the RX might not have been properly determined or even may have changed since your RX was last determined!. Glasses (especially going from no correction to needing correction) take some getting used to!. After a couple of weeks of regular and constant use your eyes should adapt to your glasses!. My suggestion is to keep wearing them!. If your problems persist consult with your eye doctor!.
Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Things are blurry because you need your glasses to see, you have to squint to try to force things into focus and that can be tiring!.

Yes, you will have to deal with that for the rest of your life (as long as you need glasses)!.

Going without your glasses can make your vision worse (it is not giving them a rest) and it will take time for it to become a habit to wear them at all times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you will not get accustom to not wearing if you need themWww@Answer-Health@Com

Firstly, you might want to take a copy of your written Rx and your specs to a third party optical (one where you DIDN'T have them made) and have the prescription checked!. If you have any type of astigmatism, they specs need to be made within tolerance (within 3 degrees); also check that the PD (pupilary distance) is correct!. This is the measurement that makes the optical center of the lens where your eyes are looking straigh ahead!.
If everything on the Rx is correct, try using a wearing schedule, in order to get used to having a new precription to look through!. wear the glasses about 4-6 hours on day one, adding 2 hours each day until you can wear them all the time!. Take advil or tylenol if you get a headache!. Anyone, previous glasses wearer or new, can have some adjustment time to getting used to a new Rx!.
Finally, one thing that helped me personally was the addition of an "anti-reflective" or anti-glare coating on the lenses!. This helps to minimize the "looking out of a window" effect you can feel when you first start to wear them!.
If you cannot get used to the Rx and your specs ARE made correctly, you need to return to your optometrist or opthamologist and have your vision rechecked!. Within three months, the doctor and the optical that made your specs should accomodate with dr changes on the Rx at no charge!. You might have been tested stronger or weaker than necessary the first time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
