Does eye color effect night vision?!

Question: Does eye color effect night vision!?
My girlfriend who is if Latino descent has brown eyes!. My eyes are blue!. A clear difference in our ability to see at night has been demonstrated!. I often see coyotes, rabbits, or javelina at night, but she cannot spot them even after I point them out!. She claims that eye color is the reason for this!. That blue eyes are a common adaptation of those of Scandinavian ancestry!. That they receive less direct sunlight and moonlight, so they adapted to see better in the dark!. While her ancestry is closer to the equator, and they had adapted to deal with more direct sunlight!.

I do not doubt this to be the case in terms of skin pigment, but as far as eye sight is concerned, I do not see how the color of the iris impacts the amount of light directed towards the retina!. So, is our difference in night vision affected by ancestry at all, and if so, is the adaption really related to eye color!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

"the color of the iris impacts the amount of light directed towards the retina!.!.[!?]"

Indirectly it may!.!.!. Not by light passing through the iris, though!.
A blue iris, having many fewer pigment cells, can be more flexible and dilate to a greater extent, giving a somewhat larger pupil at night, on average, than with a heavily pigmented iris!.

The effect might be considerable or marginal depending on the individual, and in many cases I suspect could be outweighed by other factors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No it doesn't matter at all, vast majority of eye conditions are due to genetic weaknesses which are inherited and health of eye ,cornea, lens etc, but eye colour blue and paler eye colours are a bit more sensitive to the sunlight , a lot of theories in there but none are scientifically proven!. She needs an eyetest!. My eyes are blue and I have not very good night vision !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think its more race that may have a slight adjustment to help, but eye colour itself i cant imagine having anm effect!? as its not the colour that helps you see, its receptors at the back of the eye!?
