Answers:
Some nystagmus is hereditary and present from birth!. It is often associated with visual impairment!.

Some cases of nystagmus (involuntary jerking of the eyes with a fast component in one direction and a slow component in the other) of recent onset may be due to certain medications or from a head injury!. Unfortunately, it can be a result of more serious problems, too, such as a cerebellar tumor or multiple sclerosis!. Or, it may be nothing serious!.

I would suggest evaluation by a neurologist or a neuro-ophthalmologist rather than some doc-in-a-box!. Good that he noted it, though!. Your regular physician should be consulted, first!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

nystagmus is a congenital or acquired persistent, rapid, involuntary, and oscillatory movement of the eyeball, usually from side to side!. Also a rapid involuntary oscillation of the eyeballs occurring normallywith dizziness during and after bodily rotation or abnormally after injuries (as to the cerebellum or the vestibule of the ear)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
