Occasionally, a baby is born with different sized pupils and there is no underlying disorder!. If other family members also have this condition, then pupil size is possibly genetic and is nothing to worry about!.

At times, for unknown reasons, pupils may differ in size!. If there are no other symptoms and if the pupils return to normal, then the temporary condition is nothing to worry about!.

Unequal pupil sizes that develop later in life and persist are often a sign of a brain, blood vessel, or nerve disease!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes i would be worried!. It might be nothing but go see an eye doctor and the peditrician immediately!
The only reason id worry is because my father has the same problem!. It was an indication that he was about to have a stroke!. One pupil is large and one is small!. And now it is permanent but he didnt have a stroke because he saw a doctor just in time!.
It is probably rare for a 5 month old to have a stroke but it could mean something is blocked or it could be some other disorder or a vision problem!. See an eye doctor even if the peditrician says its ok!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to have you baby checked for coloboma!. It's a condition that can affect only the iris of the eye or the whole eye and it can cause major vision loss!. My son has a coloboma and it only affect his iris but his pupils are different sizes!. Don't take any chances with your babies eyes have them checked!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Another vote for taking him to the pediatric ophthalmologist!. This can be a sign of glaucoma, and early detection and treatment is key!. Here is a link to a story that a mother wrote about her son's glaucoma!. It has pictures - you can compare and see if that looks like the same thing!.

I agree with Stef, you should bring your baby to a pediatric ophthalmologist (it may take a referral from your pediatrician)!. It's probably nothing if his eyes have looked the same in pictures (btw it can be helpful to bring pictures to your appointment) but it's better to be sure!.

Don't want to scare you, but you should take your baby to a pediatric ophthalmologist to check it out!. It's probably not a brain or eye tumor because the pediatrician should and could have looked at that!. But if it were my baby, I would just get it checked!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. Ask your pediatrician to look at him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
