If my glasses Sph is -0.50, shouldn't my contact lense power be -0.50 instea!

Question: If my glasses Sph is -0!.50, shouldn't my contact lense power be -0!.50 instead of -0!.75!?
Just trying to find out why my glasses and contacts prescriptions are different because I see better with glasses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They may not be the same!. Here is an example for why they may not be the same!. Contacts that correct astigmatism start at !.75 diopters!. Your eyeglasses may have an astigmatism correction that is less than !.75 diopters so your doctor may have attempted to compensate for this with a -!.75 sphere in your contacts lenses!.

My contact lens prescription is slightly different than my eyeglasses prescription!. My eyeglass prescription is plano, -1!.50 axis 50!. My contact lens prescription is plano -1!.25 axis 60 because contact lenses are not made in my actual prescription!.

I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will almost always see better with your glasses than you will your contacts!. Your contact lens prescription will normally vary from your spectacle prescription anyway, but usually it is a little bit less of an Rx!. Contacts sit directly on your eyes as opposed to an inch from your eyeball like your glasses so generally do not need to be as strong!. For example, my natural Rx is -2!.00 in my right eye and -2!.75 in my left eye, and my contact Rx is -1!.75 in my right and -2!.25 in my left eye and I see 20/20 with my contacts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Many people see better with contacts than glasses--
and some people achieve better visual acuity with their glasses--
it depends on your eyes and your rx!.

Under normal conditions, it would be typical to have a -!.50 contact rx
when you have a -!.50 spectacle rx!.

contacts have to fit the shape of your eye to be best fitted for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
