Question: Why cant i wear contacts lenses!?
Im 13 and i want 2 wear contacts but my opticians say dat i have 2 wait until im 16 but i think my eyes are ready!

This is not a matter of whether your eyes are ready or not!. The youngest person I knew of who wore them was 10!. I have read about kids even younger than that wearing them!.
It is a matter of how responsible you are!. Contacts require more care than eyeglasses!. You have to make sure to follow your doctor's wearing schedule and keep the lenses clean!. If the contacts are worn and cleaned properly, then you should not have any problems!.
I know some doctors may believe that a patient should not wear contacts until they are sixteen based on their own experiences!. Your doctor may have a reason for choosing sixteen as the proper age to start wearing contacts and therefore may not prescribe them to patients younger than sixteen!.
If you feel you are responsible enough to wear contacts, then ask your parents about a trial to prove that you are!. I also suggest that if you have any chores around the house that you make sure they are done before your parents have to ask!. I also suggest maintaining a good grades in school as well!. If you do these things it will show your parents by example that you are responsible!.

If your prescription is not really high, if they can correct it with glasses, there's usually no need to give you contacts at this point because you're young!.They usually wait until you're older (16-18) because of all the care you have to give to contact lenses- you can develop serious eye problems if they're not cleaned and worn as prescribed!.So, they figure if you're older, you'll take better care of them!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're probably just not ready to wear them, simple as that!. Listen to your eye doctor!. I got contacts when I was 9 but I was actually ready to wear them and proved it!. It's not a big deal to wait, really, I wear my glasses a LOT more then I wear my contacts!. They get irritating, trust me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
