Does anyone have the eye correction procedure called Orthokeratology?!

Question: Does anyone have the eye correction procedure called Orthokeratology!?
I'm considering getting it!. My original eye doctor told me to go for it but another eye doctor said that I shouldn't do it because of risk of going blind or other complications!. Has anyone used it or currently have it, and what are the advantages and disadvantages!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Well, I really don't think you have to worry about the going blind thing!. As you said, though, there are advantages and disadvantages!.

Advantages:

1) Can allow you to be glasses free indefinitely!.

Disadvantages:

1) Whereas you do become less dependent upon your glasses, you must continue to wear the contact lenses indefinitely each night while asleep to maintain your benefits!. So you switch dependency on glasses to dependency on contacts!. (Although, you don't have to wear the contacts during your waking hours!.

2) You will never be free of contacts!. (Think of this like retainers being worn after your braces come off your teeth!.) If you stop wearing your retainers, your teeth will begin to return to their original positions!. Likewise, if you stop your retainer lens wear your eyes will return to their original prescription!.

3) Some patients will develop permanent distortion in the shape of their corneas when they decide to discontinue contact lens wear!. This will make it necessary to wear a stronger prescription in glasses to deal with this distortion and sometimes the distortion cannot be dealt with well using glasses!. This means you may have to stay in gas permeable contact lenses indefinitely in order to see clearly!.

Personally, it doesn't make much sense to me to do Orthokeratology when LASIK is available!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Me!. I am an optometric physician!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ortho-K, or "Corneal Refractive Therapy" as it's been dubbed, carries no risk of going blind or anything like that!. It's actually a pretty cool alternative to laser vision surgery, and others!. In my experience, doctors who tell you not to do it are going to do so because of 1 of 2 things!. 1, they are too afraid or unexperienced to prescribe it properly, or 2, they do not think it will work with your prescription!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Me!. I am an experienced optical / doctors office manager of 10 years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
