Blocked meibomian glands- damp or dry compress?!
Question: Blocked meibomian glands- damp or dry compress!?
I've been told the solution is a hot/warm compress, does it matter if it is a damp hot compress (soak a flannel in hot water) or a dry hot compress (heat pack wrapped in tea towel)!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
The meibomian glands make the oily component of your tears which helps prevent evaporation!. The most simple (and often the best) treatment for a blocked meibomian gland is warm compress with lid scrubs!. Think of the oil produced by the glands as cooking oil, which when heated becomes less viscous and flows more freely!. Warmth from the warm (but not scalding hot) compress will do exactly that and helps break up the blockage!. To prevent future blockages and to help with the current ones a lid scrub would be helpful!. This is done with baby shampoo and warm water!. Gently rub the no tear shampoo over your closed lids of both eyes, rinse and dry with a clean washcloth!. Lid hygiene is very important in maintaining ocular and lid integrity!.
As a specific answer to your question, it probably doesn't matter whether the compress is dry or wet, just as long as you do it in connection with your lid scrubs!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
