My mother sees flashing lights. Any help would be appreciated?!

Question: My mother sees flashing lights!. Any help would be appreciated!?
My mother sees flashing lights usually with associated sinusitis-like pain!. This may or may not be followed by a "pressure headache"!. She continues to see these lights for some time (10-15 minutes) and they do not go away when see closes her eyes!.

I was wonder if it is possible, based on these symptoms, to determine what is causing this problem!. A quick Internet search indicates that flashing lights may be caused by retinal tear, or an aura associated with migraine!.

The sinusitis-like pain leads me to believe that is probably the latter, but any advice would be appreciated!. Also, does the fact that she continues to see the flashing lights even after closing her eyes help in the differential diagnosis!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, it sound like Migraine!. I have suffered with Classical Migraine for 18 years, when you have the visual disturbance you can still see the flashing lights when you close your eyes!. I would recommend that your mum going to the doctors where they can give her medication to control the Migraines!.

Triggers of Migraine include:

Oranges/Orange Juice
Aspartame (Artificial Sweetener)
Mature Cheddar Cheese
Artificial Colouring
Chocolate
Mono-sodium Glutamate
Stress
Irregular Sleeping Patterns
