If any refractive error, vision must be improved with glasses, there should not be any amblyopia then the chances of correction of squint(crossed eyes) are excellent!.Normally surgery would be performed after the age of 14-15!. EDIT: Thanks Princeidoc!. For instance, when the defect is mild, glasses are prescribed to correct the alignment problem and sometimes patch(occluder) may be recommended over the normally functioning eye for a number of hours everyday,"patching" can help remind the brain that it needs to pay attention to both eyes, which sometimes can improve the alignment!. IN MORE DIFFICULT CASES and in cases where glasses DO NOT correct the defect, eye muscles surgery is typically needed to straighten the eyes and to prevent vision loss!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Your nephew should be checked to see if he is developing amblyopia as a result of his misaligned eyes!. It's a condition that can become permanent if he isn't treated as soon as possible and it can result in the loss of vision in one eye!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Only an eye surgeon who has personally examined your nephew's eyes and knows his eye history and his personal eye details can answer this question accurately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
