Contact Lens information?!

Question: Contact Lens information?
I have irregular corneas. My actual vision is not bad, but the way the light enters my eyes with distorted corneas it makes my vision is distorted and blurry . I have been wearing SynergEyes Contact lenses which are large soft lenses with a rigid lens in the center that cover a little more that the colored part of the eye. . I need a new prescription and cannot afford the eye exam at the present time. I was looking at the halloween and theatrical contact lenses you can buy online without a prescription to find just even a large soft lens I could use temporarily until I can afford an eye exam. Can anyone tell me what sizes in mm to look for to find large thick quality nonprescription lenses online selling theatrical or halloween lenses. . I know I will only be able to buy soft lenses without a prescription, but they help me see a little better than not using nothing at all and I know there are a few programs that help low income people pay for eye glasses. All these programs consider contact lenses to be cosmetic and will not cover them. Eye glasses do not correct my vision problems and so contacts are a necessity for me to be able to read. Thanks for your help!!

Cindy, it appears you might have a mild case of Keratoconus...
And the CL that you're using is a very very SPECIAL lens... the optical part (centre) is a rigid lens that moulds the tears behind the lens and infront of your cornea to neutralise the cornea's irregularity, to correct your vision. Hence this Contact Lens power is in no way linked to your own eye's power... (as the tears' lens are the thing that corrects your power)

The soft outer part just improves the comfort of wearing the CL.

If you buy any soft lens... it will NOT correct your irregularity, the're just like glasses to you.. useless... The power of your CL won't match with anything you get online... I'm sorry to say, but it's best to save up and have another check with your eyecare prof. and get new proper lenses.

Hi , I was interested in your question. I have to tell you that both my parents noticed their eyesight deteriorate over time and had to wear glasses. They were considering laser surgery but were advised to try natural remedies first. They read an article called How To Restore Your Eyesight Without Surgery. They took the advice, did the recommended eye exercises and were delighted with the results. Neither of them wear glasses anymore! I can't say if it will work for you, but it's a fascinating read and teaches alot about how to look after your eyes. Apparently my parents experience is quite typical. You might like to give it a try aswell - it can't do any harm!

I wish you good luck.

Don't you still have a pair of lenses that you have been using? Why not use them until you have the money to get a new prescription? Also, if you don't have the money for the exam, how will you pay for the new lenses?

You've got to be very careful and don't play with your eyes by buying stuff off the internet like that. You could easily wind up messing up your eyes for good. Talk to your eye doctor and see if there is anything that can be worked out as far as payment goes. Maybe he/she will let you pay a little bit each week or every other week.

Good luck...
