Question: Why does sight go bad?
My vision has been going bad since around the time I was in fourth grade, but I can remember struggling with it when I was in the first grade. I am near sighted and recently had my vision estimated at 20/70. I am now 17.
My parents are both near-sighted, and my dad requires bi-focals. My mom has moderate vision impairment while my dad's is pretty severe and has been since he was a teenager.
My brother and sister both require glasses, but my prescription is several times stronger than either of theirs.
I get that this sort of thing is genetic, but why? Any info would be great, thanks in advance.

There's no definite cause of myopia, but in your case it's probably hereditary.
