Lasik - what will you feel during the surgery and after? 10 points?!

Question: Lasik - what will you feel during the surgery and after? 10 points?
I have decided to have lasik by mid Feb and now I am already nervous. I have done the eye check and the doctor said I am suitable for me........ but I am not sure if it is pain or discomfort during the operation. Is it scary?

And will I feel any pain or discomfort 7-8 hours after the surgery? Will I wake up in pain at night?

Please share your experience.

When I had mine, the absolute worst thing was getting the freezing drops put in before surgery. There was nothing else during the entire procedure or aftercare that I'd describe as painful, though. Obviously it's strong stuff, and you don't feel anything after a minute, but the freezing drops sting initially. During flap creation and ablation, you don't feel anything. Afterwards, the worst you get is a dry or gritty feeling, which is why they give you lubricating drops. (Buy more; you'll probably need them.) I went home and took a nap about 2 hours after surgery, woke up three hours later with no pain or anything. After the first few hours you should be more or less back to normal, aside from probably some blurred vision for a little bit.

I'm an optometrist who had LASIK done a few months ago.
