Bloodshot eyes... how do you fix them?!

Question: Bloodshot eyes... how do you fix them?
Yeah for some reason my eyes seem to be bloodshot quite often recently.
I went to the optometrist about 4 months ago and mentioned it. He only said "oh you're probably just straining your eyes too much." I told him that I play video games and he suggested that might be the main cause.
I play a lot of video games, but it's only happened recently that my eyes got bloodshot afterward.

I heard getting a refresh rate over 60hz is better for your eyes...
Is there any other ways to reduce eye strain while playing video games for extended periods?

It's probably eye strain from extended periods on video games. Best thing to do is the 20,20,20 rule
It's not hard just every 20 mins (do it when it's loading the game or something) and look at something 20 feet away for only 20 sec. Also this can happen from not enough sleep so when your eyes are dry and tired just take like a 5-10 min nap and it'll be all right. Just to let you know it's normal and you can't go COMPLETELY blind from playing video games :)
Good luck :)

Experience,(i play lots of first person shooters and also nto all line will clear out right away.

its usually not the refresh rate of the monitor. ts usually the fact that you're not blinking. multiple studies show that gamers & heavy computer users basically have a "staring contest" with the screen. they dont blink for minutes at a time.

i'd try a good OTC artificial tear like Systane, and use it say once an hour while you're gaming

As princeid says it is blinking tha tends to be the problem on screens. Drinking lots of water , not tea or coffee helps and looking up every so often. Keep the screen at arms length and make sure that light sources are at 90 degrees to the screen ( don't face a window for example, or have a light behind you).

I do find that 100hz helps my eyes, but not everyone does. The quality of your screen makes a huge difference. It would probably pay you to take a break one day a week as well and/or get an hours fresh air onto your eyes. Also give your eyes a break for an hour before going to bed.

Computer professional with long hours on the screen.

ROHTO. best eyedrops i've ever gotten, although I would think about slowing down on the video games if it gets too bad. You'll be blind as a bat if it's already getting that bad.

Drink water and sleep
