Can i get tinted sunglasses tinted darker?!

Question: Can i get tinted sunglasses tinted darker?
I want to try getting some prescription sunglasses with a 40% or 60% tint but if I find out the tint is too light, can I then get them tinted darker? My understanding is that the lens should be plastic, not polycarbonate, for this to work. But what about the various coatings -- scratch protection, UV, and anti-reflection? Is there a proper order to have them put on for this to work? Or should I skip some of the coatings? Or what? thanks!

A good sunglass is normally tinted to 85%, so 40-60 will most likely be too light if you want an effective sunglass.

If they are single vision lenses, then they can most likely be tinted darker , unless you have an anti reflection coating added. If you do , they can't be retinted.

Most single vision lenses already have the anti scratch coating on them , but is tintable , so that doesn't affect it. The UV coating was done before the first tint, so that isn't affected either.
