I would suggest initially looking at frames on one of the larger on-line sites. This will let you know what styles are available as well as the price you could get them for on-line. Look through the styles and write the make & model of any you like, then go through your list and narrow it down to a reasonable number of "finalists". Some of the on-line sites have a way for you to take a digital photo of yourself and place various frames on it to give you a rough idea what you would look like. At this point, it might be advisable to call around and find out what local shops carry the ones you like and go and actually try them on. As for your $200; in general, glasses will be cheaper on-line, but you don't get free fitting, adjustments, minor repairs, etc. Also. if there is a problem with the glasses, it is easier to deal with a local company. You can save some money by buying the frames on-line and having a local place put the lenses in.

I would advise you to try frames on and see what they look like. Also take a friend with you to give a second opinion. the problem about buying off the net is that you can't check what the glasses look like on. Neither can you check if they are going to be comfortable. I know opticians can be more expensive but also there is less risk attached. they may also provide advice as to what will look good for your face type and how it will fit in with your perscription. What you need to remember is that glasses can look quite different when they have the lenses of your perscription in. If you are near sighted ( have a - perscription) you need to make the size of the lenses as small as possible to keep the weight of the glasses down . that makes a real difference to comfort. You also need to think of the weight of the frames and you can't gauge that until you try them on.

I would go with a rectangular shaped lens, but usually once people get use to you wearing glasses you realize they don't look too bad! I've got a black, rectangular shaped frame and thick new temples

Mine are somewhat like these except thicker sides.
It's mainly about your impression on them. If you like them and they feel good, go with it!
