question on LASIK surgery?!

Question: Question on LASIK surgery?
I am planning to have LASIK surgery the next year. I am 21 now. My left eye has -8.00 and my right -9.00. Both eyes have 0.5 astigmatism. Can the doctor correct both astigmatism AND myopia in one surgery? or i will have to have a second surgery to fix astigmatism?

Answers:

I had LASIK surgery. I'm not sure why the doctor said it is okay for you to have the surgery. My eye doctor said to wait until my eyes stopped developing -- unless your eyes have already stopped. They usually stop at 25.

I had my LASIK at age 24 and it was the best decision I've made. It was never painful during the procedure, but it is strongly recommended that you go home and go directly to sleep. Take Nyquil and some ibuprofen or something. If you wake up, the pain will be excruciating. Usually takes about 8 hours for that pain to go away. I wanted to cry it hurt so bad. But I had woken up halfway in between those 8 hours. Afterwards, everything was just extremely bright for a while. And Halos, which went away eventually. I still get them and occasional blurs from time to time, but nothing major.

I'm pretty sure the LASIK will correct everything. If you have a professional doctor who has examined your eyes, he'll set it up so that the laser shoots at certain dynamics in the eye.

Before surgery, I wore glasses fulltime. I had an astigmatism and I was nearsighted.
After the surgery, everything was clear. It will take a few months for your eyes to heal. During this time, it is imperative that you do not touch them. DO NOT RUB or do anything. If you have an itch, just dab gently. You'll get through it.

It's a life changing decision. Although people afterwards didn't even realize I was without glasses -- except for the fact that I had to wear sunglasses for about a month or so -- everything was extremely bright. The night is like day and the day is too bright. And now it's just second nature -- I can't even really remember myself with glasses.

This coming March will be 2 years since I've had the procedure.

Probably the only major side effect I still get is dry eye. Not all the time, but occasionally, and I always have eye drops on me-- my eyes will just get so dry it will hurt and become so unbearable that I have to either close my eyes and keep them closed, or get some drops in them.
