I know it is uncomfortable for some people, but it is important. There are no symptoms for glaucoma, and many have it for years without knowing it. The prognosis for glaucoma depends on how early it is diagnosed. We can stop damage from glaucoma from continuing, but we cannot repair the parts of the optic nerve that are already damaged. If you are younger it is important to have a baseline pressure reading as well.

You are the rightful and legal owner of your body... and so you have FULL control what can and can't be done to it medically... (heck, people even refuse blood transfusion even when they know they will die if not done)...

So yes, you can refuse a glaucoma test.
Furthermore: there are different types/levels of glaucoma tests...
1. The Pressure test: either the non-contact 'air-puffer', or the corneal probe with anaesthetic... people are apprehensive about these tests.
2. Peripheral visual field test - done with a computerised instrument. This is quite easy to do... (and more effective than the pressure tester)... if you refuse the pressure test, and you're concerned about glaucoma, then ask for this test...
3. LASER scaning photographs (OCT or GDx) of your nerve heads - if this test has been suggested to you... then there's grounds that you're in the HIGH risk category... don't refuse these ones...

Yeah. But why would you?
