glasses

Most people choose contact lenses because for they look because they think that with glasses
they won't be attractive. Others use them because of the sports they like which is impossible to play if one wears glasses because of the man to man contact. Contact lenses can irritate the eyes if worn for a long time or if they are not cleansed regularly and in a good solution. I have been wearing glasses for almost thirty six years now and never dreamed of opting for contacts. With glasses you eyes are safer and easily put on or put off, not like the contacts. Today you can find a whole variety of frames, some of them almost invisible and will surely do not lessen your good lookings. It's your choice now, and even of the different kinds of contacts, there the soft and the hard and many other variations. .

Many people wear contact lenses for reasons of convenience and beauty, but they also have practical advantages over glasses. Here are some of them:

Vision becomes more natural and the sizes of objects are represented correctly. Glasses distort the form and the size of an object

Lenses do not mist over in cool or damp weather, they do not freeze in the winter, they do not become wet under a rain and snow does not stick to them.

Lenses are irreplaceable for people who play sports, dance, or have an active lifestyles.

Contact lenses can protect the cornea during recuperation. Special soft medical lenses are made for this purpose.

Though contact lens are costly and need loot of care but it is better than glasses.

Properly fit and used with good care, contacts can be great, especially if you are active in sports. Glasses though are necessary if nothing more than backup if for some reason you cannot wear the contacts for any length of time due to eye infection, etc.

Once you become familiar with cleaning, inserting and removing the lenses, time spent on them will be minimal. In the beginning it can be time consuming.

It depends you will not be able to use contacts for long hrs. it is recommended for 8 hrs and for some lenses you may extend it to 10 hrs depending on the manufacturer however you will need glasses. comfort level varies from person to person. Some feel contacts more comfortable than glasses and others feel the opposite.

The choice between eyeglasses and contact lenses depends on what sight problem you have, and the degree of the disorder. Let's explore the advantages and disadvantages of contact lenses vs. glasses:Distortion:
In glasses the lenses vary in thickness, depending on the weakness of vision. The shape of an eyeglass lens creates distortion and the thicker the glass, the greater the distortion. The eye, looking through the center and then suddenly switching to the edge, sees the object being looked at move. This is called the "prism effect".

If you look through a prism you can see how a straight line becomes bent. Even though the prism effect is gradual as the eye moves across the glasses lens and does not disturb the wearer very much, it can be a nuisance. This distortion can also affect stereoscopic vision until the brain has had time to compensate. Lens Strength:
Because of its closeness to the pupil, the contact lens often does not need to be as strong as glasses. The image formed at the back of the eye for the near-sighted is larger and less dazzling than with glasses-an effect which makes many near-sighted people who wear glasses choose lenses weaker than their full prescription, so they many not see well.

For far-sighted people the image is smaller than with glasses. The power needed for contact lenses can be greater than for glasses. However, when far sight is fully corrected by contact lenses close work is easier than with glasses because the wearer does not have to accommodate so much.Eye Problems:
Some eye disorders can only be treated by contact lenses. These are: extreme far and near sight, unequal vision and astigmatism. People with keratoconus (a cone shaped cornea) or who have had a cataract operation are often better off with a contact lens.

Cosmetic Effect:
This is the major reason for many people trying contact lenses. Either they feel glasses don't look good, or they find them heavy and uncomfortable. The freedom of contact lenses is worth the effort involved in getting used to them.Comfort:
To start with, wearing contact lenses is certainly more uncomfortable than glasses. In the long term, provided you can learn to adapt, you don't notice you're wearing them. Glasses, on the other hand, may be heavy on the bridge of the nose, steamy or sticky in wet or hot weather. There are, however, some common eye conditions that make wearing contact lenses impossible:

Dry Eyes: If your tear glands don't make enough tears your eyes will become gritty and sore. The discomfort is relieved with eyedrops and by avoiding a dry or rapidly ventilated atmosphere. But contact lenses would irritate the soreness and so are unsuitable.

Wet Eyes: Too many tears can interfere with your vision. Watering eyes may be due to a cold, a foreign body or crying. But if your eyes are continually watery, this may be due to a blockage in the drainage channels and until it has been put right, it will not be possible to wear contact lenses.

Adapting To Lenses:
It takes some perserverance to get used to lenses and a lot of people give up in the first two or three weeks. Motivation is of course, all important.

Expense:
The cost of contact lenses are generally higher than a pair of eye glasses, when factoring in the cost of saline and cleaning solutions, lens cases, etc. This is especially true if you are using disposable contacts, some of which are designed to be thrown away every month, week, or day.

Much depends on where you live, and whether free health care is available. Some insurance plans will not pay for contact lenses, as they are considered cosmetic and not essential (unless of course, your eye disorder requires correction provided by contacts.)

I wouldn't be without my contacts and I find them super comfortable and like they are not even there (also I wear them from the moment I get up till the time I go to bed, often 7 days a week, for the last 7 years and I have no problems!)
It does depend on the person though as everyone's eyes are different, and you may have to try out a few different ones first before you find ones that suit your eyes - your optician will help with this. Also the getting them in and out can take a bit of getting use to, but I think it is definitely worth it! No more steaming up when cooking, or slipping down when running for the bus, and you can do sports and other activities so much easier!
And if you get dailies then you do not have to worry about cleaning them.
Also remember that once you are happy with your lenses, buy them on line - so much cheaper that from the opticians!
If I were you I'd give them a go, you should get a free trial so you have nothing to lose!

I like contacts better. You have to get used to the contacts being on your eyes. For the first couple of weeks you will probably feel them. But after you get used to them you won't even notice they are there. I've been wearing the Acuvue brand for about 8 years now. Some contacts you can wear a pair for two weeks (these are the ones I have) and you just have to take them out when you go to bed. I keep them in all day and they don't dry my eyes. And then they have contacts that you dispose of everyday.

I find glasses an everyday hassle because I hate wearing glasses. I barely even wear sun glasses.

once you get used to contacts they are comfortable, and they are much better for sports. But you do have to clean them and follow basic hygiene procedures, whereas glasses you just put on and that's it.

you will always need glasses available as there will be times when you can't wear your lenses, lose one, etc. A mix is the best way.

lens wearing time varies between individuals, but unless told otherwise always take them out at night. Look after your eyes, you don't get spares.

I used to wear both (now i've had laser done so neither!)

But I think contact lenses were really good; they were very comfortable - but towards the end of the day your eyes can sometimes feel a bit dry - which you can get drops for. You can get lots of different types of lenses which suit your eye type so you can get the most comfortable ones.

Anddd when its hot and you walk into a warm place you don't have to worry about the glasses steaming up!!!

ps - for the guy who said you can only wear contacts for 6-8 hours, you can get ones for longer wear such as continuous for a month and not taking them off at night

-Contact lenses are only to be used for no longer then 6-8 hours
