Red eyes with contacts. Best course of action?!

Question: Red eyes with contacts. Best course of action?
As is said in the title. I have red eyes and I highly suspect that it is due to contact overwear (99% certainty). Now I'd like to alleviate the problem, but I don't know what to do. For now I'm just using my contacts in the most limited cases (when I have to see), and removing them when need be. In fact, just the other day, because I knew I wouldn't have to do anything, I didn't where contacts the whole day. It seems to be working fine, but I've also heard that artificial tears work as well. I have no allergies just FYI. Should I stick with what I'm doing, or should I do more?

Why don't you get some glasses, then you don't have to wear your contacts so much, it would give your eyes a break from contacts. If you hate glasses, you can just use them evenings & weekends.

Artificial tears dont' help red eye and if you have this then really you need to stop wearing contacts completely. Also go to your optician and get your eyes checked. This is teh sort of thing for which time is critical. You do need a backup set of glasses so you can leave your contacts out completely.

Whilst red eyes are the characteristic overwear thing, self diagnosing and treatment is not the best of ideas.

I have the same problem. I normally wear my contact lenses every single day from when I wake up and take them out only to sleep. My eyes are red and dry and veiny. I saw my optometrist recently and he said that my contact lenses are scratching my eyes and that, basically, if I don't switch to glasses I have a chance of doing some real damage/even going blind in the future. Glasses here I come :: sigh ::
